Alan is a partner, based in Birmingham, and has been with the firm for more than 20 years. He has considerable general practice experience, but specialises particularly in valuation, landlord & tenant issues and rating.
Specific experience
Instructed by Société Générale to provide open market valuations of 22 properties in the UK, France, Germany and Sweden as part of a larger exercise for loan securitisation and debt syndication. The properties totalled over 4m sq ft of industrial and office accommodation and Alan involved a valuation team from four regions which handled the UK properties, and a team from London which flew to France, Germany and Sweden to value the European properties.
Responsible for managing the undertaking of rent reviews, lease renewals and rental valuations on almost 1700 properties for Gala Coral, as well as advising on rating matters on the 2000, 2005 and 2010 Rating Lists.
Providing rating advice to Johnson Dry Cleaners for the 2005 and 2010 Rating Lists (660 properties).
On the 2010 Rating List, Alan also advises and is responsible for Derby City Council (300 properties), North Lincolnshire Council (250 properties), Knowsley and Halton Borough Council (560 properties). He has now taken on sole responsibility for advising The University of Liverpool, The University of Manchester, The University of Nottingham, The University of Wolverhampton and the University of Keele on each of their entire portfolios.
Alan is instructed by Phones 4 U to advise them on rent reviews and lease renewals in the North of England.
Responsible for providing estate management advice to Findus Group and Brenntag UK Ltd on each of their entire property portfolios. The remit advice includes landlord & tenant issues, rating, valuation as well as acquisition and disposals.
Alan has won the instruction to advise St Gobain on all rating matters for the 2005 Rating List, in respect of their Jewson (recently instructed on the 2010 Rating List) and Grahams portfolio (600 properties). In addition Alan is also instructed to advise Travis Perkins on a portfolio of 550.
