Brian is a chartered surveyor and the firm’s senior hotel partner based in our leisure department. He has considerable experience in the valuation of all types of leisure property including hotels, public houses, cinemas, motorway service areas and bingo halls. For the past 15 years he has specialised in the valuation of hotels throughout the UK for business rates, asset/company accounts valuations, taxation, landlord & tenant and compulsory acquisition purposes.
He brings a thorough understanding of the hotel market on both a national and local scale, provincial and central London, budget to five-star and his expertise has developed with constant involvement in the industry.

Retained adviser to the British Hospitality Association
Acts on behalf of most of the country’s leading hotel operators eg Barcelo (Paramount), De Vere, Four Seasons, Hilton, Holiday Inn (LRG), InterContinental, Jarvis, Malmaison/Du Vin, Marriott, Maybourne, Morgans, Premier Inn, Principal, QHotels, Radisson Edwardian, Savoy, Somerston and Thistle/Guoman
Author of the chapter on valuation of hotels for the last two editions of ‘Valuation: Principles into Practice’
On behalf of the BHA and the hotel industry, negotiated the central bases for the valuation of budget to five-star London, airport and provincial hotels for the 1995, 2000 and 2005 Rating revaluations; also undertaking the same exercises for the 2010 Rating revaluation
Involved in central discussions with the Scottish Assessors for the 2000 and 2005 Rating revaluations
Represents the hotel industry in all central discussions with the Valuation Office
Settling rates appeals on all types of hotels throughout the UK
Asset / capital valuations on behalf of:
De Vere, RBS/Hilton, Premier Inn, Moto Hospitality

Rent reviews for the Mostyn Hotel, London, and Marriott Marble Arch including representations/submissions to third parties
