Chris joined Gerald Eve as a partner in June 2001 following the disposal by Whitbread of its remaining 3,000 pub portfolio and its decision to outsource its asset management team following a strategic review of its non-core services. He has over 30 years asset management and leisure property experience much of which has been gained on the client side. Chris has been involved in managing an extensive portfolio of both operational licensed premises and a range of non-licensed properties. He has specialist experience in block public house/restaurant disposals and acquisitions particularly in the budget hotel sector.
Specific experience
Co-ordination of over 2,500 pub sales during the 1990s and several pub and restaurant portfolios since in both single transactions and block sales and for both existing and alternative uses
A former executive member of the Whitbread Property Division responsible for national asset management; this included asset valuations, disposals, acquisitions, development, rating, landlord & tenant and general day-to-day estate management with the aim of maximising capital values and minimising the costs of holding properties
Dealing with a diverse portfolio, acquiring and selling pubs, hotels, nightclubs and restaurants and distribution depots; managing licensed and non-licensed portfolios, and redeveloping a number of key former brewery and distribution sites throughout the UK
Meeting ambitious targets and leading client teams that pride themselves on delivering a professional service with a strong commercial outlook
Specific recent examples are:
Currently managing the growth programme for Premier Inn to secure extension opportunities on their existing estate
Marketing and disposal process management of several pub/restaurant sites throughout the UK and in particular for Charles Wells and Whitbread. Over 45 disposals handled for Charles Wells over the past 3 years about half of which sold for alternative uses and with more currently available
More recently helping Luminar Leisure on their nightclub disposals and acquisitions throughout the UK with notable recent disposals being Majestyk nightclub Leeds to a developer, a Leisure investment sale in Basingstoke and a several other sales of going concern and closed businesses in the UK
