Jerry is our head of rating and has responsibility for co-ordinating and organising the partnership's extensive rating business. He is a past President of the Rating Surveyors’ Association, a member of the Valuation Faculty Board of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation and of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' influential Rating and Local Taxation Policy Panel, of which he was Chairman from 2000-05.
As well as his active involvement with these three professional rating bodies, Jerry’s rating expertise is recognised by the key industry, trade and think tank organisations. He is a member of the CBI Rating and Valuation Panel and is regularly called upon to assist London First, the British Retail Consortium and the British Property Federation forming their policies concerning business rates as well as assisting with their Government lobbying.
Jerry has given evidence to House of Commons Select Committees on developing rating legislation and policies and is widely respected by all stakeholders. He is a regular conference speaker on rating issues.
Jerry is a member of the National Ratepayers Forum, the Professional Bodies Liaison Group and the Valuation Tribunal Users’ Group. He has been actively challenging Government’s changes to Empty Property Rates Relief since they were announced in the March 2007 Budget, as well as devising and implementing strategies to minimise our clients’ rates liabilities for vacant property.
Jerry also leads our specialist team dedicated to rates payment management services, taking over responsibility for paying clients’ rates bills and managing their liabilities, removing all the hassle of rates. The rapidly growing team is responsible for managing and paying over £800m in rates liabilities for over 18,000 client properties.
