Based in the West End, Julian is a partner in our leisure department. He advises occupiers on landlord & tenant, rating and valuation issues and has thirteen years specialist experience in the leisure sector.
Julian has a particular focus on the late night economy, having been the key partner in the team to advise the majority of the major operators of nightclubs and late over the last decade. He also carries out work in the pub, restaurant and ten-pin bowling sectors.
Julian has 8 years’ previous experience in Gerald Eve’s retail team, dealing predominantly with valuations and rating work.
Specific experience
Rent reviews and lease renewals – for tenants and landlords on nightclubs, pubs, restaurants, bowling centres and retail property, including preparation of Third Party submissions
Capital valuations – of large estates of restaurants, public houses, and shops for financial reporting, and loan security valuations – on individual public houses, nightclubs and restaurants throughout the UK and Channel Islands
Valuation advice – to leisure companies on potential acquisition of portfolios of public houses, nightclubs, bars and ten pin bowling centres across the UK
Assisting the in-house leisure team on acquisition and disposal instructions for nightclubs and bars
Rating advice to the leading nightclub and late-night bar operators over four Rating Revaluations from 1997 onwards, leading discussions on behalf of occupiers on individual sites across the South
The complete rating process – including negotiation of bases of assessment and appearances at Valuation Tribunal; advice given particularly in respect of public houses, night clubs, bowling centres, ice rinks and snooker halls; appeals in respect of major leisure developments such as the London Eye and Millennium Dome; and advice to a number of major leisure operators
