Ken is the senior partner in the firm’s Glasgow office and has significant experience of advising clients on office and commercial properties, including rating, occupational issues, acquisitions and disposals and landlord and tenant matters.
Specific experience
Ken has a long experience of rating matters in Scotland having dealt with appeals during the 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005 Revaluations. This has been for a variety of retail, leisure and industrial properties including shops, stores and High Street/shopping mall outlets.
Acquisition and disposal experience on a range of office and commercial properties throughout Scotland – representation for a number of occupational clients, including rent review negotiations and third party submissions which has involved evidence and expert witness testimony at Hearing procedures. – various properties dealt with include 40,000, 50,000 and 60,000 sq ft office buildings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and central Scotland
Responsibilities as property adviser to a number of NHS, government and private clients in major planning and development projects including large greenfield schemes and brownfield regenerations - these include former hospital, brewery, industrial and residential land
Other experience includes specific valuation and investment advice to major clients and giving evidence to public inquiries and other formal proceedings. Regular presentations and speaking at conferences utilise Ken’s experience
Ken is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation. He is also on the RICS Scotland Chairman’s Panel of Independent Experts and Arbitrators.
