Kieron is an associate in our planning and development team based in the West End. He has specific experience in advising clients on complex, large scale mixed use development proposals in south east England, particularly London where Kieron has worked extensively in central Westminster. He is experienced in providing bespoke planning advice on a range of residential, commercial and mixed use development schemes to achieve planning permission.
Kieron’s work includes a wide range of client and planning advisory roles including site appraisal, planning application and appeal work.
Transferable skills
Kieron has many transferable skills which can be used to advise clients. These skills include a thorough knowledge of planning law and policy, and ability to quickly identify and mitigate planning risk and as sound understanding of the technical detail required to prepare a planning application.
Kieron has worked in planning in both the public and private sectors and therefore has a complete understanding and experience of the entire planning process including the roles and motivating factors of key decision makers.
Kieron is able to advise on the totality of a project, from defining the strategy, advising on the scope of a planning application, guiding the consultations and preparing, submitting and negotiating the planning application to determination. Kieron has considerable experience of leading and managing a planning team to tight deadlines while successfully dealing with the public, local groups and decision makers.
Specific experience
Kieron has advised a number of strategic landowners and key public and private clients on their planning and development strategies, including Prudential, Land Securities, Development Securities and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). He also advises a number of Estates on planning matters including The Portman Estate, The Howard de Walden Estate, Great Portland Estates and Soho Estates.
Kieron has worked on some significant and ambitious planning projects and development schemes including an emerging 10,000 unit new settlement in South Cambridgeshire on behalf of HCA, over 1 million sq ft of m of mixed use development in central London for Land Securities and complex, multi-site planning strategies for The London Estates.
Further planning experience includes involvement in prominent, London and town centre, mixed-use redevelopment schemes, including retail, office, education and residentially led development proposals. Kieron’s experience has increasingly included work on substantial, high value development schemes with long-term time horizons where he has acted primarily on behalf of landowners to negotiate site allocations and planning permissions in London and across the south of England.
Strategic development – emerging Northstowe new settlement on behalf of English Partnerships and proposed new community in Chelmsford District on behalf of Prudential, strategic development in the Royal Docks and Thames Gateway on behalf of Countryside Properties, the London Development Agency and Development Securities
Residential – growth areas, new communities, development plan allocations, large scale private, affordable housing and student accommodation schemes for Land Securities and others
Office and retail – large-scale office and retail development for Land Securities and Development Securities
Leisure – hotel and leisure schemes on behalf of Soho House, Soho House, Cannons Gyms and the Manhattan Loft Corporation
Education – school development on behalf of the DfES, Ark Education, the Alpha Plus Group and the Portman Estate
Central London estates – planning strategy advice and application work for the Portman Estate, Howard de Walden, Great Portland Estates and Soho Estates
