  Michael Donohoe

Mike is a chartered building surveyor, a registered CDM Coordinator and qualified access consultant. As well as general building surveying experience, Mike has extensive experience within the rail transport sector having surveyed all the Virgin Trains West Coast Line rail stations. He also has a Project bias, having specified and delivered projects for local authority and private sector clients including hostel refurbishment, office fit out, alterations to retail units and educational building alterations. The budget for these projects ranged from £50k to £1.8 million. .

Mike specialises as a Project Safety Coordinator, acting in the role of Construction Design and Management Coordinator (CDMc) on a number of projects, being a registered member of the Project Safety Association 

He has many years’ experience in providing strategic advice to clients on how they can meet their obligations in line with access legislation, particularly in relation to the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). He is a member of the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC) and his access consultancy experience includes preparing access strategies and statements, and providing advice in relation to landlord and tenant matters.

Specific experience
Schedules of condition: preparing schedules of condition for various landlord and tenant requirements

Pre-acquisition surveys: Mike has carried out this type of survey on a number of commercial properties ranging in cost from £200k to £20 million.

Office refurbishment: Building 3 Daten Park located in Warrington, currently working as the Contract Administrator on a £300k office refurbishment scheme on behalf of Ericsson Limited.

Hostel redevelopment: Contract Administrator for Women’s Direct Access Centre located in Liverpool, on behalf of Enterprise Liverpool Ltd. This was a £1.4 million pound project.

Access strategy:  A recent example is the strategy work undertaken for Virgin Trains West Coast, setting the standard for the access audit based on Crewe station, Mike has rolled this out across the whole west coast line, totalling 19 stations.

Preparing design and access statements for planning applications: some recent projects include Oxford University, Hope Hospital in Salford, Ore Valley redevelopment located in Hastings, Kent and Bury St Edmunds town centre redevelopment

Neighbourhood regeneration schemes: providing professional building consultancy services and advice to Manchester City Council including £2 million worth of projects that have been specified and delivered with Mike acting in the role of Contract Administrator.

Strategic advice on dilapidations for landlords and tenants: Mike has undertaken various instructions and produced schedules and negotiating settlements.

Mike’s role as CDM co-ordinator (formerly planning supervisor) has given him the opportunity to develop health and safety documentation in relation to safety on construction sites.
