With more than 20 years’ specialist investment experience, Michael is a senior investment partner. In recent years, he has undertaken extensive work in the sale and leaseback arena, corporate recovery and structured finance transactions.
Examples of these are:
NCP Acquisition – advised The Royal Bank of Scotland and CinVin on the corporate acquisition and subsequent £650m purchase and leaseback restructuring of NCP Car Parks – this transaction involved over 155 individual properties throughout the UK and was sold by Gerald Eve to a syndicate of Israeli investors. Providing ongoing advice to bank on quality of security and valuation.
VW Portfolio – advised The Royal Bank of Scotland on the acquisition of a £280m car showroom portfolio from VW Group – the deal involved structuring the leaseback of existing premises and providing a development facility going forward. Provided further advice to bank on ongoing quality of security and valuation.
Capio Healthcare – advised Nikko Principal Investments on the acquisition of 20 private hospitals by way of sale and leaseback from operator Capio, at a price in excess of £250m – Capio retained a 20% stake in the ownership of the assets going forward
Nomura – advised Nomura Asset Finance on a potential sale and manage back of a portfolio of 607 public houses throughout the UK for more than £800m
Tesco portfolio – instructed to provide property and valuation advice to Consensus on their purchase of a £366m portfolio of food stores and distribution units, which were sold by Tesco by way of a sale and leaseback
Somerfield – lead property adviser to the R20, Apax and Barclays Capital consortium and debt providers in this £1bn corporate acquisition of Somerfield
He is also responsible for fund management and has particular experience in the alternative sectors including leisure & healthcare properties.
