Mike is partner in charge of our Manchester office. He specialises in heavy industrials, manufacturing, distribution and health sector clients advising on strategic asset management, business rates and valuation issues to minimise occupational costs and maximise property returns.
Specific experience
Instructed to provide rating and general estate advice to four large health trusts in the North West of England – includes largest hospital complex in the north of England where achieved rates savings to date exceed £6m
Strategic valuation and planning advice to a leading UK media company with regard to a major city centre mixed office, retail, leisure and residential development site
Instructed by a major aluminium smelter in respect of 840 acre mixed use site to implement a detailed Land Use Management Plan combining operational and non-operational property issues as part of a strategic estate policy including major land disposals, development issues, planning and valuations
Advising several oil and petrochemical companies and food manufacturers quoted in the FTSE100 including valuations and negotiation of rating appeals and targeting rates savings using other mechanisms
Advocate and expert witness at valuation tribunal and preparation for lands tribunal to prosecute rating appeals on behalf of heavy industrial and health sector clients
Advising major UK industrial companies on all estate matters including rent reviews, lease renewals, disposals and acquisitions and dilapidations
Clients include - Anglesey Aluminium Metal Limited, Bassell, BP, Colgate Palmolive, Corus, Growhow UK, Ineos, ITV, Liverpool University, Manchester University, NHS Trusts, Peel, Shell, Unilever.
