Gerald Eve LLP was appointed by Co-operative Insurance Society Limited (CIS) to advise on the development of this strategic corner site at the junction of New Bond Street and Brook Street in the heart of Mayfair. As part of early negotiations we agreed with officers the principle of accepting a roof level extension and worked closely with the design team to ensure that the design and views of the proposed extension were acceptable in the context of the buildings location in the Mayfair Conservation Area.
We also advised on the mix of proposed uses to ensure that floorspace is used as efficiently as possible, in response to Westminster City Council’s strict policies on encouraging mixed use development and the provision of residential accommodation as part of commercial schemes.
Planning permission was initially granted on 20 October 2009 with an additional application submitted to revise the original application which was granted planning permission on 20 October 2010.
Since the grant of planning permission Gerald Eve LLP has continued to advise CIS on various emerging planning issues and implications of changing policy associated with the development of the site.
