The Estate’s objectives were to create a viable and active use to secure the long term future of the petrol station site and to significantly improve the existing office accommodation to ensure it met modern occupier requirements. The design approach adopted was to sensitively alter the existing buildings on site in order to retain their character and retain as much original fabric as possible.
Gerald Eve LLP advised the Estate on planning issues and strategy and were responsible for preparing and submitting the planning application. Although the scheme was initially not supported by officers at Camden Council or English Heritage, Gerald Eve LLP successfully negotiated the application through to determination, obtaining planning permission, listed building and conservation area consent for the proposals.
