Client: FTC Kaplan
FTC Kaplan is owned by the Washington Post and has numerous centres across the UK, providing training courses for major professional accountancy and tax qualifications.
Based in Birmingham since 1977, the company has benefited from the recent growth in the financial and business services sector in Birmingham, and outgrew its current facilities. It appointed our agency team to acquire 23,000 sq ft within the city centre – a maximum of a ten minute walk from Birmingham New Street station - on its behalf.
Solution
To be completed within a tight timescale, we researched relevant opportunities within the city centre and shortlisted three opportunities. Inviting bids from each landlord, we identified Baskerville House - a 200,000 sq ft scheme which had recently undergone a £30m refurbishment - as appropriate for its needs. We negotiated with the landlord and acquired the lower ground floor and part of the ground floor on a 10 year lease on competitive terms.
The result
The accommodation is one of the highest profile office developments in Birmingham and its location provides excellent access for all FTC Kaplan’s customers.
