Client: IndependentAge

Demographic trends, changes in the provision models of care for the elderly and more onerous regulation and operational complexities have, in recent years, led some smaller charity providers of elderly care to re-evaluate their continued provision of services.

Often faced with an historic estate, the re-provision of state-of-the-art models of delivery are a significant investment, the benefits of which must be balanced against other objectives.

Acting for IndependentAge, we have over a number of years advised on the suitability for purpose of their care home estate, evaluated options and a range of models of provision, advised on planning and development potentials and negotiated planning consent for an alternative assisted living concept in place of an older care home. We continue to work with them to ensure that the best use of their property assets is made in the furtherance of their objectives in meeting the needs of the elderly.

Our healthcare specialists, in what has become an increasingly dynamic property sector, have advised Leonard Cheshire, Help The Aged and Friends of the Elderly on similar matters, as well as a wide range of private providers of long-term and acute care services.
