Client: North Glasgow University Hospitals
We pride ourselves on making and saving money for our clients. That’s one of the reasons why over 90% of our clients have worked with us for over five years. A good example in Scotland is the NHS that we advise on a range of matters including rating, asset valuation and agency disposals.
A few years ago, North Glasgow University Hospitals asked us to review the rental income it received from its retail occupiers at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI).
The Hospital was already considering a reconfiguration of the five retail units, but was unsure on which route to take. Our retail specialists - with experience in all retail sectors - knew that hospital retailing is a limited market. We also recognised wider market trends that increasingly favour large units, allowing retailers to trade more profitably.
We recommended it alter the five existing smaller shops to two larger units that we went on to market. We undertook a full marketing campaign for them - drew up particulars, set a closing date for offers and collated the responses – and successfully let the units. This increased the Hospital’s rental income by over 400%.
