Client: Private landowner
Our landowner client owned a 60-acre green belt site in Oxfordshire, part of which was previously leased for use as a civic amenity site & waste transfer station.
The occupier and our client had a long-standing disagreement over a number of issues - including contamination of our clients land and unauthorised occupation of part of the site - that had reached an impasse.
The landowner appointed our waste management specialists to represent its interests. Negotiations stalled when the occupier's agent could not convince their client of the merits of our arguments. Our aim was to sell the site, but the occupier’s offer was too low to be accepted. Having previous experience at the Lands Tribunal, we presented a thorough case at mediation that enabled our client to sell the site for more than double the previous offer.
