Client: The British Land Company plc, Ropemaker Place
Planning permission was secured on behalf of the British Land Company plc for a new 83,000 sq m office building on the border of Islington and the City of London.
The 21 storey building with three storey basement was designed by Arup Associates to have regard to its local context which includes City Point to the south, the listed residential Barbican estate to the south west, the HAC ground to the north and important regional and local views including those from the south bank of the Thames to St Paul's Cathedral and local views from Islington's conservation areas including Finsbury Square.
The building encompasses extensive biodiverse terraces and was voted Green Office Development of the Year in the Estates Gazette Green Awards.
