Client: Sea Space
Our client, Sea Space - a joint venture company established by English Partnerships and Hastings Borough Council – is embarking on a 10-year redevelopment programme of three sites in East Sussex, known as the Hastings Millennium Community.
One of the sites is 20ha in size and is known as the Ore Valley site. Sea Space appointed our planning and development team to advise on planning matters for the site, including the provision of expert witness evidence at a public inquiry in relation to the compulsory purchase procedures required for the application.
The solution Our planning experts prepared evidence for the inquiry which took place at the beginning of 2008. We also co-ordinated the environmental impact assessment, and prepared and submitted the planning application for Sea Space, taking care to address the environmental issues at the heart of this initiative.
Results Outline planning permission was granted in March 2008. Once the scheme is completed by 2012-13, the Ore Valley will provide green open spaces, wildlife areas and recreational facilities as well as infrastructure for a railway station, a community college and 1,000 homes.
