Client: Land Securities plc, Victoria Street
Gerald Eve LLP was appointed by Land Securities plc to prepare and submit planning applications for the redevelopment of Selborne House on Victoria Street.
The proposed building is located on the corner of Victoria Street and Buckingham Gate and has been designed by world renowned architects Pelli Clarke Pelli in conjunction with Swanke Hayden Connell. Gerald Eve LLP worked closely with the architects and project team to submit an application which involved the redevelopment of an outdated 1960’s government office building with a new building that will act as a landmark to this important corner of Victoria Street and visibly contribute to the character of London as a ‘world class city’. The scheme provides nearly 37,000 sq m of large office floorplates in order to meet the demands of modern office occupiers in the West End.
Planning permission was granted by Westminster City Council, and the site introduces new retail uses at ground level as well as creating a new open space for Victoria in between Selborne House and the existing Westminster City Hall, enhancing pedestrian connectivity across Victoria Street. Selborne House has been carefully designed to respond to local views including those from the Royal Parks Conservation Area where it appears in between Westminster City Hall and Windsor House. Off site housing was secured at Wellington House and Wilton Plaza.
