Client: Barts and The London Charity

Barts and The London Charity instructed Gerald Eve to value their investment portfolio for inclusion within their company accounts.  The portfolio is worth in excess of £100m and comprises 88 properties ranging from residential and hospital premises, to industrial, office and retail units.

The properties are spread across central London with the majority located in close proximity to St Bartholomew’s Hospital in Smithfield and the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.  There are also a number of properties throughout the south-east of England which the Charity has purchased as investment assets.

We carried out full inspections of the entire portfolio. The report was prepared in accordance with UK GAAP and included consideration of the potential for obtaining planning permission for alternative uses and development schemes, which could add value to the Charity’s portfolio.

In addition to the initial instruction, we have been advising the charity on other areas including planning. We recently secured a planning permission extension for a property which we are now in the process of selling for considerably more than its 2009 book value.
