Client: University of Kingston
Our building consultancy team were asked by one of the UK’s fastest growing universities to undertake Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments as the university renewed its insurance policies.
The university has four campuses and its wide-ranging portfolio includes 1960’s tower blocks, nurseries, engineering buildings and halls of residence, lecture theatres, conference facilities and multi-storey car parks.
Paying an annual fire insurance bill for each property, the University instructed our building consultancy team to undertake a Building Reinstatement Cost Assessment for 54 properties in its portfolio. We inspected each building and calculated the cost of replacing the properties on a ‘new for old’ basis, should the properties be damaged or lost through fire. These included buildings that were listed, of an unusual design and some that are built into hills in difficult locations.
We calculated the reinstatement cost assessment for all 54 buildings at £180million, and completed the work to a tight timescale.
