Internet Retailing – Opportunities and Challenges for the UK’s Distribution Property Markets
Gerald Eve has recently been commissioned by ProLogis - the world’s largest owner, manager and developer of distribution facilities - to produce a research report on internet retailing and how the sector impacts on distribution property.
Key findings from the research include:
- Identifying the different supply chain models used by etailers to deliver goods to UK consumers
- Illustrating how these models differ from traditional strategies
- Analysing the nature of these distribution warehouses and their locations
- The role of specialist e-fulfilment logistics providers and innovations in home delivery
- Expectations for the future, including expected internet sales growth, different strategies likely to be employed by retailers of different product types and the likely demand for distribution warehouses for online sales fulfilment
The report was launched at industry “must-attend” event Shed Show in early February 2008.
