We are privileged to have been engaged over many years in providing valuation advice to some of the most prestigious estates in London, including Grosvenor, Cadogan, Howard de Walden, Portman, Ilchester, Dulwich and the Crown Estate. For example, we have advised Grosvenor for over 25 years.

Valuations have been provided for internal accounting purposes, capital gains and inheritance tax, for new development or conversion appraisals, and for strategic tax planning, as well as other ad hoc reasons. These central London estates include not only a wide range of residential property types but also shops, offices, hotels, pubs, restaurants, schools and other community uses which also need the input of our specialists across the firm in sectors other than residential.

Since 1967, our central London residential estate clients have been affected by a increasingly complex leasehold reform legislation, allowing leaseholders to buy their freeholds or extend their leases. Each case requires complex and very technical valuations and often difficult negotiations in which recourse to litigation may be inevitable. We have experience in giving evidence in the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and in the Lands Tribunal representing our clients in many of the leading cases. As such, we are one of the few property consultants who advise on leasehold reform matters. Since 1964 we have advised on over 2,000 cases for the Grosvenor, Cadogan, Howard de Walden, Ilchester and Portman Estates.

New housing provision is another legislative challenge. Affordable housing, key worker housing, live-work units, restrictions on greenfield development, and sheltered housing for the elderly are some areas that have made house builders re-evaluate their approach to new development opportunities. Our Planning & Development team have been on hand to assist the likes of Bellway Homes, Persimmon Homes and Sunrise Senior Living through the process.
