Gerald Eve are pleased to offer full-time Apprenticeships across the firm in either administrative based roles or surveying. We recognise that Apprenticeships are a great foundation for individuals looking to gain professional experience whilst gaining a new qualification.
An Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to earn whilst you learn. You’ll receive on-the-job training and gain invaluable work experience whilst achieving a professional qualification.
An Apprenticeship is the ideal route if:
An Apprenticeship requires a commitment from both you as an individual and from the firm, since depending on the Apprenticeship, it may take anywhere between 1 to 5 years to complete.
At Gerald Eve, we offer Apprenticeships across the firm in either administration or surveying. Each Apprenticeship is tailored to your development needs to ensure you receive the support and training you need to achieve your professional qualification and to excel in the workplace. We view this as investing in our future talent.
In addition to your salary, you will be entitled to our full benefits package including paid holiday and time off for studying. Read more about our benefits here.
When hiring an Apprentice, we look for positive and proactive individuals, with good organisational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong communication skills and most importantly a can-do attitude and a desire to learn.
We offer Administrative Apprenticeships in both the firm’s fee earning and business services business groups. Currently, we have Administrative Apprentices in the Facilities Team, the ICT Team and within the Administrative Teams of the fee earning business groups.
As an Administrative Apprentice, you will develop a range of transferrable skills through on-the-job training and experience of working in a professional environment as you work towards achieving your Business Administration NVQ Level 2 or Level 3.
As an Administrative Apprentice, you will support the team with a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
Specific role requirements will be outlined in the job description of any Administrative Apprentice vacancy.
The Administrative Apprenticeship at Gerald Eve is generally a fixed term contract to cover the length of your Apprenticeship qualification.
We offer the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship on the Commercial Real Estate pathway. We may also offer other pathways from time to time (e.g. Minerals).
Off-the-job training will be provided by the University College of Estate Management (UCEM). You will achieve a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management degree. Rather than attending formal lectures or classes, you’ll study using UCEM’s state-of-the-art online learning environment and digital library, supported with guidance from highly experienced tutors. Upon completion of the degree and the structured workplace learning you will undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) leading to registration with the RICS as a Chartered Surveyor.
Our Apprentices are treated the same way as our Graduates to foster an open and inclusive culture – this means you are given the same job title of Assistant Surveyor and given the same training and pastoral opportunities.
Although subject to change, you will spend the first 2.5 years of your Apprenticeship in the same team to provide a solid foundation at the beginning of your career. Upon commencement of your third year, you will start your APC at which point we incorporate you into a 6 monthly rotation alongside the graduates (inclusive of your final 6 months in your first team) in order to gain all the competencies required for the end point assessment to become a Chartered Surveyor. If you are based in one of our national offices you will not be rotated formally, but you will still gain the experience to enable you to qualify as you will be working in a multi-disciplinary capacity.
The day to day duties will vary depending on which seat you are in (i.e. valuation, lease consultancy, rating, etc.) but may include:
The entry requirement for the Level 6 Apprenticeship will typically be 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 UCAS Tariff) or an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS tariff. However, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or refer to the UCEM website for further information about other eligibility routes.
We don’t currently employ anyone on the Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship, however it is something we will look to offer in the future.
This qualification will enable an apprentice to gain an RTPI accredited qualification and Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) status whilst gaining practical experience on the job.
The scheme will typically take 3-6 years overall, depending on prior qualifications, and apprentices will be assessed through a Professional Discussion and the RTPI Assessment of Professional Competence.
I HAVE FOUND THE APPRENTICESHIP EXTREMELY REWARDING. DESPITE IT BEING HARD WORK, IT’S VERY ENJOYABLE AND REWARDING. DURING MY APPRENTICESHIP I HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO A LOT OF EXPERIENCES THAT I WOULD HAVE NEVER HAD AT UNIVERSITY, WHICH HAVE HELPED PUT THE TEXTBOOK THEORY INTO CONTEXT AND DEVELOPED MY UNDERSTANDING AS A RESULT.
