Centre Point, London Borough of Camden

Service: Planning & Development | Sector: Mixed Use

The Challenge

With the arrival of the Elizabeth Line to Tottenham Court Road Station, we were instructed to advise Almacantar on the transformation of this landmark building from offices to residential apartments. The 1960’s skyscraper is listed (Grade II) and a prominent building on London’s skyline. The key objective was to restore and to improve on its legacy while ensuring that the hostile public realm around the base of the tower was transformed so as to respond to the increased footfall resulting from the Elizabeth Line station.

The Solution

Working with Conran and Partners, leading interior architects, we led both planning and viability discussions, to bring forward the change of use of the tower to 82 apartments alongside a new purpose built affordable housing block.

The Results

A sensitively designed and sustainable repurposing of this iconic London landmark building to provide new homes, improved public realm and retail facilities including a destination food market.
