Gerald Eve welcomes ED&I manager in a new role for the firm

As part of the property consultancy’s commitment to actioning change in the property industry, Gerald Eve has appointed Melanie Folkes-Mayers as ED&I manager based out of its London West End office.

Melanie is an award-winning HR specialist, trainer and speaker with over 20 years of strategic and operational human resource experience gained across a range of industries including retail, IT, healthcare and education. She is a member of the CIPD and has a PRINCE2 project management qualification.

Prior to joining Gerald Eve, Melanie ran her own HR consultancy for six years, providing bespoke HR support and advice both to large corporates and small businesses, particularly around equality, diversity and inclusion. Her focus at Gerald Eve will build on the firm’s involvement in helping to improve accessibility for all to the property industry. The company has recently taken part in both the Change 100 and 10,000 Black Intern schemes, welcoming interns who may not have previously considered a career in property.

The author of Leading for Growth, Melanie is particularly passionate about developing proactive leaders and managers who support their teams to take ownership and deliver excellence. Her practical application of inclusive leadership principles will offer a natural follow up to the mandatory training undertaken by heads of business at Gerald Eve over the last year.

Just like many firms in this industry, we still have a long way to go to achieve an entirely inclusive environment that provides equal opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds. Our appointment of an ED&I manager demonstrates our commitment to this issue and is one more step in the right direction for us as we look to build on a welcoming and increasingly diverse culture here at Gerald Eve.
