Alex is a Partner in Gerald Eve’s Planning and Development department based in London. Alex qualified as a Chartered Town Planner in 2010 and a Chartered Surveyor in 2011, after graduating from the University of Reading (MSc Development Planning).

Alex has over 13 years’ experience of providing development consultancy, strategic and valuation advice to a range of private and public sector clients on commercial, residential and mixed-use developments. His experience has covered a wide variety of locations throughout the UK and Europe, with a focus on London and the South East and includes valuation of land; development feasibility; financial viability assessments and reviews for both developers and public bodies; estate regeneration advice; land assembly; planning and acquisitions / disposals.

Financial viability assessments and reviews – various assessments and reviews of mixed-use schemes throughout London and the South East. Examples include a 200,000 sq ft office-led redevelopment of the ‘Piccadilly Lights’ island site in Westminster on behalf of Landsec. Redevelopment of West End Green, Paddington, for a 650 residential unit scheme including a 30 storey tower on behalf of Berkeley Homes. Redevelopment of a former MOD facility (Hartland Park) in Fleet, Hampshire, for a 1,500 residential unit scheme on behalf of Berkeley Homes. Redevelopment of Fulham Gasworks, Hammersmith and Fulham, for a 1,800 residential unit scheme with buildings up to 40 storeys on behalf of Berkeley Homes. Redevelopment of Oval Gasworks, London Borough of Lambeth, on behalf of Berkeley Homes. Various financial viability due diligence reviews on behalf of the London Borough of Havering. Scheme deliverability assessment on behalf of Grainger Ltd, in respect of a mixed-use scheme at Wards Corner, Seven Sisters, London Borough of Haringey, for regeneration purposes in the course of a compulsory purchase inquiry.

Estate regeneration – financial viability advice provided to Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in respect of the proposed redevelopment of the William Sutton Estate, Chelsea, in the course of a planning appeal at public inquiry.

Valuations – various loan security valuations for banks and specialist lenders, including a site in Slough town centre with planning permission for a 240 residential unit scheme; valuation of a 250 acre former quarry in Suffolk with planning permission for a winter-sports holiday resort scheme; valuation of 30 acres of strategic land in Southend-on-Sea and a valuation of the 400 acre Swanscombe Peninsula near Ebbsfleet, Kent, earmarked for a new theme park development. Various valuations of investment portfolios for accounting and acquisition purposes on behalf of BlackRock, Tiger Developments, LaSalle Investment Management and CBRE Investors.

Agency – range of transactional based development agency instructions for private and public sector clients. Including formulation of marketing strategies, developer selection and negotiation of heads of terms for disposals and acquisitions. Recent experience includes the following:

Littlemore, Oxford – unconditional residential development land disposal on behalf of a charity;
Chiswick – development disposal on behalf of the University of Westminster; and
Various residential land disposals on behalf of Slough, Bedford and Reading Borough Councils.
