I joined Gerald Eve’s Glasgow team in 2004 and have since gained a wealth of professional practice experience, latterly acting as the principal point of contact for Scottish Lease Consultancy instructions (lease re-structuring and rent reviews). I am a Member of the RICS and an RICS Registered Valuer.

Bringing you expert advice

  • My specialism is rent reviews, lease renewals and re-structuring, dispute resolution, and asset management initiatives across all property types, including children’s nurseries, ground leases, industrial/storage, leisure, office, retail and pharmacy premises. I advise clients on all aspects of the lease event process from budgeting, negotiation, identifying and securing opportunities to extract value, and preparing submissions in the capacity of an Expert Witness for Arbitration and Independent Expert Determinations in the event an amicable agreement can’t be reached.
  • I co-ordinate and undertake instructions on behalf of a well-known Scottish business with a UK-wide industrial and office portfolio. Our service is a ‘one-stop-shop’ assisting with all their property requirements and queries which includes regular reporting on matters such as acquisition and disposal of premises, compulsory purchase, rating appeals, re-instatement cost assessments and valuation.
  • In the office market my experience includes acting for Newsquest in relation to a 53,000 sq ft rent review in Glasgow city centre and subsequent sub-lease rent review, advising the University of Edinburgh in relation to upcoming lease expiry options and rent reviews, the valuation of a 100,000 sq ft building in Aberdeen and acting for Gerald Eve in relation to the rent review on our own Glasgow office.
  • In the retail and leisure sectors I advise several corporate national clients on lease consultancy matters, including regular reporting and delivery on agreed KPIs. I have experience in all of Scotland’s cities, most of its towns and many villages, advising on a range of prime and secondary retail properties, retail parks and drive-thrus. I am responsible for the Scottish element of our Lease Consultancy contract with Co-operative Group which includes over 200 lease events over the contract period, with ad-hoc property related advice in connection with lease re-gears and extraction of value from our client’s retail property portfolio.
  • My experience in the industrial sector is nationwide and includes, as an example, re-structuring a lease for a global distribution company to remove a rent review where an uplift was justified, extending the length of the lease and agreeing an attractive incentive in exchange. I have also undertaken lease renewals and rent reviews for Yodel including Submissions to third parties where amicable settlement could not be reached with the landlord and rent reviews and lease renewals for ATS.
  • Examples of some current clients I work with include AG Barr, ATS, Azzurri Group, Bestway, Burger King, Capita, Co-operative Group, Costa, EDF Energy, Pizza Express, Scottish Ambulance Service, Tarmac, TGI Friday, WHSmith, Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow & Stirling, and Yodel. I have developed great relationships with these clients over the years, enjoy learning about them and their business, and understanding how I can work together with them to meet their property needs.
