Nick Thornton

Nick is an Associate in our Planning and Development department based in the West End.

He specialises in providing development advice to land owners and property companies along with acquiring and disposing of land and property for development. His background in land acquisition has proved beneficial in advising clients on the most efficient way obtain best value.

Specific experience

Nick has produced a variety of feasibility assessments  for major funds including Aberdeen, AIK, DTZ IM and Threadneedle which have primarily related to the change of use from office to residential for various properties. In recent years, Nick’s knowledge of both commercial rents and residential values has proved valuable in providing clients with appropriate advice.

Time spent acquiring land for residential, student, commercial and affordable housing use across London and the South East for a residential developer has enabled Nick to provide the right advice at every stage of the development process. This has meant that clients are able to maximise their returns from their assets from ensuring that the right use is developed in the right location. His particular focus on the City of London and knowledge of fringe areas has also proved extremely valuable for work with Tower hamlets and the City of London relating to both acquisition and disposal advice.

Working closely alongside land owners also ensures that any disposal is marketed appropriately and the sale price optimised. A site in Westminster was sold above market expectations for Aberdeen on the basis of pre-application advice. Other specialist advice includes marketing strategies, pre-sale due diligence and negotiation of heads of terms to ensure swift disposal periods.

Nick is a member of the RICS and Residential Development Agents Society (RDAS).
