William is a Partner in our Specialist & Residential department based in the West End. He joined Gerald Eve in May 2005. He specialises in advising on valuation, estate strategy, development, acquisition and disposals advice in respect of educational, healthcare and other institutional and operational properties, with a specific focus on charities.

Specific experience
William specialises in providing property advice to charities. His knowledge and experience brings together estate strategy, valuation and purchase and disposal on a wide range of properties including convents, care homes, schools and churches as well as more traditional property assets such as residential and development land.

As part of a wider team, he provides specialist valuation advice to for-profit providers as well as not-for profit organisations, including trading valuations of operational assets, valuations for accounts, secured lending, purchase and disposal and Charities Act Reports.

Recent projects
The sale of a religious charity owned independent school for development in Buckinghamshire, including liaising with the in-house Planning and Development team and receiving planning consent for circa 200 residential units, a care home and a community building.

Advice on value of over 200 properties owned by the Samaritans as part of their proposed incorporation of a number of branches into a Combined Central Charity.

Valuation of a charity owned trading care home in Bournemouth and estate strategy which led to a transfer of the home to another charity as a trading entity.

Valuation, strategic advice and advice on sale to a religious charity regarding two Prime Central London properties, including the sale of one adjoining Cavendish Square.

Valuations of various FE colleges across London and the South East on behalf of Barclays Bank for secured lending purposes and for FRS 102 purposes.

Valuation advice for secured lending purposes to The Co-operative Bank regarding two substantial charity owned assets in South West England comprising a residential special school and adult learning disability centre/ charity enterprise.

Advice on value, repairs and liabilities of a religious order’s England and Wales portfolio of 56 properties ranging from schools to convents, houses and care homes.

Valuations and strategic advice to a charity owned language school on property in Cambridge and London.

Portfolio valuation for a major independent school operator mainly based in prime central London.
