On this day next year, the window for the submission of a proposal to challenge the rateable value of your property, is over. If by 1st August 2023 you have not submitted a revaluation proposal then you will have lost the right to challenge the rateable value set by the Assessor.

The window to submit a proposal document will be limited between 1st April 2023 and 31st July 2023. Any challenge submitted after this date will not be accepted. Only in certain qualifying circumstances can subsequent proposals be submitted after 31 July otherwise the 2026 Revaluation will be the next opportunity to challenge values.

The newly reformed Non-Domestic rates system will be onerous on the ratepayer and is underpinned with strict legislative procedures and timelines.

The Assessor maintains the rights to reject a proposal if incomplete therefore it is imperative you engage with the new processes in place for the 2023 revaluation.

Gerald Eve have the largest business rates specialists in Scotland to assist you through this process. We are prepared to face the new challenges of the upcoming 2023 revaluation on behalf of you. Early engagement is key to ensure there is sufficient time for discussions, inspections and analysis ahead of the proposal submission window.
