We needed to assess the environmental impact of a planned residential development on a client’s substantial brownfield site
A Natural Capital Assessment was commissioned to determine the value of the natural assets and systems; for the site in its current condition and for the proposed development.
We considered factors such as; food production (such as farmland and pollination services), water resource, carbon sequestration, climate regulation, air pollution removal, flood defence, biodiversity, inspiration and well-being.
We then compared the two valuations.
The resulting assessments confirmed that the proposed new development would result in an overall gain in Natural Capital. This was used to support the proposed development and ensure our client’s ESG requirements were met.
