The Challenge

The Council for Lutheran Churches made the difficult decision to withdraw from the ownership and operation of their student accommodation. The Council had an inalienable leasehold interest which needed variation before an exit could take place. As a charity, they were obliged to seek the best terms for the interest to be sold.

The Solution

We provided valuation, lease negotiations, and pre-marketing advice and then consequently undertook a marketing exercise to identify a suitable buyer to take over the operation of the trading entity. The opportunity to add value to the business through operation and reconfiguration was key to the marketing process.

The Result

We successfully identified a purchaser and the sale completed for a competitive price, maximising the receipts to the charity and ensuring their objectives were met in full compliance with The Charities Act.
